The MeToo movement gave courage to many Indian women, who spoke about their experiences, the campaign also hit Bollywood hard as several B-Town celebs were called out. Here's a look back of 2018.

The last few months have been an eye-opener for many in the country with the MeToo movement finally gaining momentum in India. Many celebrities were accused of sexual harassment by women, who were not scared anymore to name and shame their harassers. As 2018 inches toward the end, here's a look at the timeline of the movement in Bollywood.

Nana Patekar

In 2008, actress Tanushree Dutta had accused popular actor Nana Patekar of "misbehaving" with her while shooting for a special dance number for the film, Horn OK Pleassss. Recently, in an interview with Zoom, Tanushree spoke about the incident again and alleged that at the time of the shoot, Nana Patekar had made her feel so uncomfortable that she had to eventually opt out of the song in 2008. She also claimed that the senior actor has had a history of assaulting women.

Alok Nath

The most shocking of it all were the allegations against actor Alok Nath. Television writer, producer, and director, Vinta Nanda, who accused Alok Nath of rape and repeated sexual harassment, filed a complaint against him at the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai. After the allegations, Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA) took a firm decision against him and has expelled him from the association.

Rajat Kapoor

Soon after, Twitter was flooded with similar posts and many Bollywood celebs were called out for their alleged "misbehaviour", Rajat Kapoor's name also popped up and two women accused him of misconduct. A journalist shared a post, where two women had accused the actor of harassment and said he misbehaved during with them during an interview.

Vikas Bahl

Director Vikas Bahl was also accused of harassment. After Phantom Films, co-founded by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Vikas Bahl and Madhu Mantena, headed for dissolution, it was soon discovered that it was the sexual harassment allegations against the director that led to this decision.

In his case, the woman who had accused him of sexually assaulting her back in 2015, said 'she doesn't want to get involved in the litigation any further' and that she will not file any legal affidavit against Vikas in court.

Not only the celebrities who have been accused of sexual misconduct. Others such as singer Kailash Kher, Anu Malik, Subhash Ghai, Rohit Roy, Varun Grover were also soon accused, while many have denied the accusations against them.
